My Journey

I worked as both the producer and the COVID safety officer for this film. My responsibilities as the film's producer include every aspect of its making. For pre-production, my responsibilities covered scheduling and recruiting actors, equipment, preparing call sheets, etc...Whilst on set, my duties changed and I was responsible for adhering to the call sheets and to a schedule that ensured sufficient breaks were in place and the crew were following the schedule.

In post-production, my responsibilities had shifted, and at this point, my focus was on editing deadlines created during the pre-production phase. As part of E > A, I was also responsible for organising additional shooting days, due to a few problems discovered with our final sequences

The Covid Safety Officer (CSO) was another role I took for this production. The role required me to be present on set and watch out for COVID-19 safety. My key duties for this role were generally ensuring masks were worn on set if we couldn't keep a distance of 1.5 metres, taking breaks every 90 minutes, and sanitising the set before and after filming. Regardless of how small this position was, it was vital for the production to occur whilst protecting all staff and actors.

As a producer, one lesson I took away from this film is that this role requires a considerable amount of commitment and time to the role. To perform the role, one must be present at all production stages and occasionally step into other roles as needed. An instance of this occurred when our director and lead actor fell ill back-to-back, causing a two-week delay, I was obligated to create a whole new timetable. Consequently, extra editing time is given to make up for this unforeseen omission.
